Last night was the culmination of the Marathon Club at school. From the beginning of the school year, the kids run laps around the school yard at lunch time. They have to get their cards marked by a parent each time around so that they know they have completed it properly.
Once they have completed enough laps to make 25 miles, they are invited to "The Final Mile". This is held at the high school and the kids get to run the last 1.2 miles to finish the 26.2 miles to complete the full Marathon. They run around the track while the parents and grandparents get to look on from the stands.
At the end the kids are presented with a medal.
