We're Back!!!

We arrived home yesterday very tired! I had to pick Katie up at the school at 1:00 am. We had a super fantastic time.

Katie's team did very well, they placed 15th out of 71 teams world wide. There were 1,038 teams total and a record number of 121 foreign teams from 15 different countries competing this year including, Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, UK, Korea, China, Poland and many more that I can't think of right now. It is truly amazing to see how well the Global Finals team puts this together and how organized it all is.

I was only a little tired when I arrived on Tuesday night after leaving the school at 2:45 am and then having to spend 6 hours on the runway in Atlanta, GA due to weather and finally arriving in Knoxville at 11:45 pm. The cool part is that I was able to "bond" with this DI family in the row ahead of me and I was able to make it to watch their son compete and they came and watched Katie compete.

Another cool story is that Katie met a girl at the Regional Competition in Lake Stevens in March and then ran into her again at State in Wenatchee. Her team qualified for Globals as well and guess who the first person we saw getting off the bus at Seattle but Makayla. They also ran into each other after Closing Ceremonies and we have exchanged emails and phone numbers and have a plan to get together this summer.

Pin trading was as popular as ever and Katie was able to get the coveted Rainbow Phoenix. We met lots of interesting people this way too!

I am going to post links for my pictures below to each day that we were there. Enjoy!!

I am going to tack on our Sunday's adventures here too. Katie attended the Girl Scouts Junior Outdoor Skills Day on the day before we left. We tried to pack in as much as we could before we left!! Here are the pictures:

And then the Saturday we attended one of Gord's good friend's wedding. Gord was asked to be an attendant. The girls met two girls there that were exactly the same age and they had a fantastic time.

Way to go at Globals! Sounds like Katie (and you) had a great time - nothing like meeting new friends!
